Annoto Ltd. (“we”, “us”, “our”), respects your privacy. This policy (the “Policy”) explains our privacy practices. It describes the ways your personal information and data is collected and used and the rights and options available to you with respect to your information. The personal information you provide (as described below) depends on your volition and consent. You are not legally obligated to provide or give access to this information, but we do require it to in order to allow you to use our online service.
Annoto™ is an online service (the “Service”) that allows users to post and read comments (“Comments”) to digital media content on the web, such as new media, video clips, audio clips, presentations, etc. (“Content”).
Website operators can register to the Service in order to activate it on the website they own and operate (“Participating Websites”). Once a Participating Website has been set-up to utilize the Service, registered users of the Service can then post Comments to Content that appears on the Participating Website. The Comments posted are viewable by all Internet users.
You’ll need to sign-up and register to the Service if you wish to post Comments to Content, or wish to set-up and activate the Service on a website that you own and operate.
You may sign-up as a user through your account on one of the social networks or online platforms that the Service supports, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Google (“Third Party Platforms”), or by filling-out our sign-up form.
If you choose to register with our sign-up form, we will ask you to provide your email and choose a Service username and password.
Once signed-up, the profile tab of your account on the Service allows you to optionally provide additional information about yourself, and modify your existing profile information, such as your date of birth, Service username, profile picture, mobile phone number, gender, occupation, professional skills, interests and hobbies.
BECAUSE THE COMMENTS YOU POST MAY HAVE TO DO WITH THE PRIVACY OF OTHERS, YOU MUST LAWFULLY OBTAIN THE CONSENT OF ALL INDIVIDUALS WHOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION OR PRIVATE
AFFAIRS MAY BE REFLECTED IN YOUR COMMENTS.
IN ANY CASE, USE CAUTION AND COMMON SENSE WHEN YOU POST COMMENTS INDICATIVE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION OF YOURSELF OR OTHER INDIVIDUALS. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COMMENTS THAT YOU UPLOAD.
We use third party analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to collect information pertaining to your activities on the Service, including your session durations, the Content you accessed and your interactions and user-interface clicks with respect to such Content, the Internet protocol (IP) address of the device from which you accessed the Service, the browser you used, its version and language (i.e. locale) preferences, and the approximate city from which you accessed the Service.
If you submit a request or inquiry, you may be asked to provide additional personal details, depending on the particulars of the request or inquiry. We may also ask you for additional personal information, in order to process your request or inquiry.
If you wish to make a donation to us, you will be asked to provide your payment method information, such as you credit card information or PayPal account details. Donations are processed and handled through relevant third parties, such as credit card service providers and payment processors (e.g. PayPal) We do not collect or store your payment method information. We may also request additional information from you before accepting your donation.
We do not intentionally or knowingly collect personal information about children younger than 13.
Use of collected information
We may use the personal information outlined above, for the following purposes:
Provide you and all other users with the Service, its features and functionalities, improve and customize the Service, develop new services, and manage the administrative and operational aspects of the Service;
Email you administrative updates and announcements related to the Service;
Handle any donations you may make to us;
Email you promotional and marketing messages, if you specifically opt-in to receive them;
Provide you with support, handle complaints and contact you when we believe it to be necessary;
Enforce the Terms and this Policy and prevent misuse of the Service;
Comply with any applicable law and assist law enforcement agencies and competent authorities, if we believe it is necessary or justified; and
Take any action in any case of dispute involving you, with respect or in relation to the Service.
Sharing collected information

Comments that you post as a registered user, will be shared with and viewable by all Internet users, along with:
Your basic profile information like your Service username and profile picture (“Public Data”);
A link to your profile page on the Service, where your profile information (other than Public Data), that you choose to publically share (if you so choose), will be viewable by all Internet users (“Optional Data”);
An indication as to the Participating Website through which you posted the Comment;
Each operator of a Participating Website may be given a copy of the Comments you posted through or in connection with their Participating Website, along with your Public Data and a link to your profile page on the Service;
If you are the operator of a Participating Website, we may share your information, such as your Service username, email address, with all Internet users, to identify you as the Participating Website’s operator, along with the URL of your Participating Website;
If you make a donation to us, your payment method information, such as credit card information or PayPal account details, will be collected and processed by through relevant third parties, such as credit card service providers and payment processors (e.g. PayPal);
We may share the personal information outlined in the sections above, with our service providers, in order to operate, maintain and enhance the Service;
If you have breached the Terms, abused your rights to use the Service, or violated any applicable law. Your information may be shared with competent authorities and with any third party, if we believe it is necessary or justified;
With attorneys, courts and relevant third parties, in any case of dispute, or legal proceeding of any kind involving you with respect to the Service;
If the operation of the Service is organized within a different framework, or through another legal structure or entity (such as due to a merger or acquisition), provided that those entities agree to be bound by the provisions of this Policy, with reasonably necessary changes taken into consideration; and
We may share personal information with our corporate group entities (companies that we control, control us, or are under common control with us – whether directly or indirectly), but their use of such information must comply with the Policy.
In any case other than the above, your personal information will only be shared with others if you provide your explicit prior consent.
Aggregated or anonymized information
We may use any of the information we collect, as outlined above, to compile anonymized or aggregated information, either by ourselves or with the assistance of third parties such as Google Analytics. We may share, sell or otherwise communicate and make available such anonymized or aggregated information to any other party, at our sole discretion.
Third parties and ‘do-not-track’
The following disclosures are made pursuant to the California Online Privacy Protection Act:
When you use the Service, other parties, such as Google, may collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites.
We do not respond to or accept web browsers’ “do not track” signals or such similar mechanisms that provide consumers the ability to exercise choice regarding the collection of personally identifiable information about their online activities over time and across third-party web sites or online services.
As a registered user, you may opt-in to receive promotional and marketing emails, through your user account settings on the Service. You may, at any time thereafter, opt out by following the unsubscribe link located at the bottom of each promotional or marketing email, or by modifying your user account settings on the Service. It may take several business days for your opt-out request to take effect. You may not opt-out of administrative notifications and announcements related to the Service.
As a registered user, you may choose which Optional Data from your account profile on the Service (other than Public Data), will become public information viewable by all Internet users. You may do so through your user account settings on the Service.
Reviewing and editing certain personal information
As a registered user, you may review and modify your account profile information on the Service, through your user profile page.
Some cookies may expire when the session ends and you close your browser. Other cookies are saved on your computer's hard drive. If you wish to block cookies, you may do so through your browser’s settings. Please refer to the browser's Help file for further information. HOWEVER, BEAR IN MIND THAT DISABLING COOKIES MAY ADVERSELY AFFECT YOUR USER EXPERIENCE ON THE SERVICE.
Transfer of data outside your territory
The Service, by its nature as an online service, may store and process information and Comments in the United States and in other various locations throughout the globe, including through cloud services. If you are a resident in a jurisdiction where transfer of your personal information to another jurisdiction requires your consent, then you provide your express and unambiguous consent to such cross-border transfer.
We retain your personal information for as long as we deem necessary for our business needs, and may delete it thereafter from our systems, without notice to you.
We may change this Policy from time to time. Substantial changes will take effect 30 days after we provide you a notice of such changes through the Service. Other changes will take effect 7 days after we provide notice. However, if the Policy is amended to comply with legal requirements, the amendments will become effective immediately upon their initial posting, or as required. The most up-to-date Policy will always be accessible on our website.
Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect will indicate your acceptance of the amended Policy. If you do not agree to the amended Policy, you must refrain from any further use of the Service.
In any event, we will seek your explicit consent if we wish to have substantial changes to the policy apply to personal information we collected prior to those changes.
